At the start of this entertaining yet shallow psychological thriller from bestsellers Hendricks and Pekkanen (The Wife Between Us), lonely temp Shay Miller watches in horror as a stranger, Amanda Evinger, commits suicide by throwing herself off a Manhattan subway platform in front of a moving train. The distraught Shay, who becomes fixated on Amanda, tracks down the young woman’s address and shows up at her memorial service. Shay’s presence attracts the attention of glamorous sisters Jane and Cassandra Moore, whose inner circle of women included Amanda. Jane and Cassandra worry that somehow Amanda confessed to Shay that the women are involved in a kind of vigilante justice in which they inflict revenge on people who may have wronged one of them. Though the story doesn’t delve deep into the characters, the strong plot generates plenty of tension as the sisters befriend Shay and set about remaking her life—all the better to spy on her. Though not up to the standard of the authors’ previous books, this one’s sure to please suspense fans. Agents: Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and Margaret Riley King, WME. (Mar.)

The talented duo has done a wonderful writing job on this read! A very different book with lots of surprises! Shay, the lonely main character, is drawn in by sisters Cassandra and Jane. The reader is kept in suspense wondering what Shay has got herself mixed up with. This, after Shay witnesses a train suicide... Many twists - an extremely enjoyable book! As always, Many Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a super read!

A 3+ rating from this reviewer. Having enjoyed this duo’s work in the past, I looked forward to this, their newest, but unfortunately, I found it lacking a 4 or 5 star rating. It was still pretty good, creative for sure, and not run-of-the-mill. This starts off convoluted, too many characters, all with back-stories of course, and various time frames. The jumping around seemed choppy and each time I picked it up, I had to go back a few chapters to refresh my memory of the character-of-the-chapter’s background. It didn’t flow easily. Also, none of the characters were likable except for the protagonist Shay, and her male roommate. Shay is obsessed with data, statistics to be exact, and each chapter is precluded with a statement of fact from her Data Journal. which I found interesting. She is going through a rough spot, unemployed and lonely. She is kind, empathetic and likable, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Shay witnesses what appears to be a suicide on a subway and it profoundly affects her. She is curious about the young woman. Curious enough to attend her memorial and learn more about the deceased, Amanda. As a result the decedent’s close group of female friends are curious about Shay as well. Little does Shay know about what they have in store for her. The second half was much better than the first and ended up being suspenseful once Shay (and us readers) realizes what is happening and how she has been manipulated. The last few chapters flew by. I encourage any potential readers to please make up your own mind. You may find it fascinating and worth the read, which it was, if you don’t mind concentrating from the beginning on who is who, and why they are where they are. This is doled out in small segments to the reader throughout the novel. All opinions are my own. Release date 3/3/20 My thanks to all for the ARC #NetGalley #St.MartinsPress #HendrickPekkanen

I can't pass up a book by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. This book did not disappoint! Have you ever wanted to fit in with a group of people so much that you would do almost anything? That is exactly what Shay has done. However, when she realizes that she doesn't really want in this group - it's too late. I hated to put this book down and then couldn't wait to pick it up again. Thanks the authors, publisher, and Netgalley for the advance copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.
